Booster Draft
« on: July 21, 2010, 10:43:18 PM »
Did people still want to do the booster draft?

Give a holler if your interested. $4 per person and you'll get 3 packs of boosters.

They are a mix of all different blocks/expansions, so its luck of the draw.

You get to keep all the cards you picked, winner gets a congratulations from everyone (if they were a good sport :P and no youngy, if i manage to play a zombie deck that doesn't automatically make me a bad sport :P)

i have no idea how the game works, but i could possibly give it a shot. how many cards are in each booster?
I'm sorry.

http://www.wizards.com/magic/rules/EN_MTGM11_Rulebook_LR_Web.pdf This is a link to the main rules.

You get 15 cards per booster, so 45 cards for $4. Each booster has 1 rare, 3 uncommons and 11 commons. You need to bring your own lands for a booster draft, so if you don't have any ask crivens to get you some (ask tonight if you want, he's going to good games tomorrow), otherwise you should be able to borrow some cards and pretend their a certain type. i.e. islands are actually swamps.

I'd be more than happy to help someone learn, and we can do test games to help those who don't know how to play properly before hand.

i'll probably just take the option of borrowing land for now, if possible. this is happening next meet right? and is it possible for me to purchase extra boosters through the draft? (just curious).
I'm sorry.

Good Games will let you have a reasonable group of lands for free - just the basic ones, mind. Pretty cool really.

What cilionelle said, although some people there don't like that, he couldn't get me any mountains even though i got him to buy me $25 of stuff, but in general most of the people who work there are nice. Otherwise you can buy them at 10c a card as their common.

If you want i can get you more ($1) each, but the draft doesn't work like that.

When you get your 3 packs you open one first, take one card and pass to the right i think (not that important) and repeat till all cards are used. then open the second passing left, then third passing right. So you can only use the cards that you get from those and everyone has the same amount of cards to choose from to make their decks. minimum 40 cards per deck which should have between 15-20 lands, so 20-25 other cards chosen from the 45 you picked in the draft.

I imagine we'll do it whenever the majority of players want to. I'm not fussed really. If thats next meet then so be it. I'd also like to play against some others that have decks they made carefully, and that i don't play all the time (youngy and crivens)

if you mean i can buy more boosters for $1 each, then that'd be awesome, i think i'd have to play a game or two first before i make a decision on whether i want more cards.

If you come along to the next meet i'll give you a game or two to teach you the ropes, then maybe you can join into a multi-player game.

I'd need to buy the boosters, so maybe we have a test game next meet and leave the draft for later. I don't want to spend money on something i wont get repaid for.

PS: when i said he at the start of my previous post, i meant crivens, not cillionelle.

Yes it does. Your zombie deck sucks.

Yeah, well if you should trade for the armourment masters that everyone has, then your deck would be really good. Also, i found a card that you'll like.

That way i can't counter whispersilk cloak or grappling hook. Good no?

I'll be going to good games next thursday, so if anyone wants anything (lands, sleeves, boosters) let me know via PM.

i wouldn't mind some land and boosters, but A) how much per booster? and B) i can definitely pay you, but it would have to be on the next meet, does that pose a large problem? (i'll also have to give you the money for the draft anyways)

if you could get me some basic land so i have some for the draft, that'd be cool as well.
