moving the club
« on: February 19, 2011, 12:01:10 PM »
why are we still so far from public transport?

this is really a pain in the @### for people without a car

and for those that say there is nothing in the area, have you looked outside of warragul and if not, why not?

We need to get the constitution done first. Which is a big task in itself, and still wanting for more input in to it from everyone!

Then become incorporated.

Then look at something like moving. At the moment we are paying $10 a day for hall hire and have all the room we need for storage. Find us a deal like that and we'll consider moving. Plus we have access to the hall at any time we want. Pretty good deal for being 10mins out of town if you ask me.

If you have some form of motorized transport.

If you have some form of motorized transport.

And yet there are more than a few people who would give you a lift out of town if you asked politely.

I resent that.
Its a 10 min drive, 30 min bike ride. It's also my home.

And we practically get it for free. If you can find a more suitable venue for even a vaguely similar price, we'll consider it. But until you have something constructive to add, stop

As I said, all you have to do is ask for a ride out of town. There are plenty of them around.

Getting back isn't the issue, it's getting there a 10 am, and it's a 10 minute drive for you.

I agree with you Germ Turtle that the location is bit of a pain getting to, and on hot/cold days is not comfortable, it is however golden for a few reasons:
1: Cheap as chips
2: All the storage space we could need
3: We can hire it whenever we want.

Finding a replacement hall that has ample storage space, free within our time table, and affordable just is not happening anywhere around here. Sure the club has thousands sitting there, and if somewhere could be found that was even $50 day hire it would be fine, but there just isnt really anything around :(
Not to mention lately there has not been very many people at each meet, and getting a nice jiggy new gaming crib would be a tad wasted on ten or so people.....

In short; the place sucks, but there is nothing better, bigger and affordable around.

Maybe if the club was in better place more playerz would show, but it does have it's merits.

There we go, a little acceptance at least.

And you have to consider that we have members coming from just as far away as you in the other direction. So moving either way up or down the highway substantially is going to cause more than a few people as much trouble as it is solving for the others.

Which other direction?  From anywhere on the highway, coming along the highway is always going to be easier than 10 minutes off it.  Are there people coming from Pakenham?  Or Garfield?  I know there are people coming from Moe and that end of the spectrum. Or do you mean Korumburra and South Gippsland?

So, in almost every way, a move into a major town on the highway or rail-line is a positive one as far as transport goes?

Yes, but it all comes down to finding a place that close, cheap, we can store stuff and we have access to when needed, and given at the moment the majority of people are happy where we are, I think we will be there for a while longer.

Also, if you guys want to help move you can help me by doing better jobs on the door and stuff. The first few people on the shift need to make sure drinks are out, the shift after lunch has been cooked needs to clean the oven and stuff. I will be doing a better roster with defined tasks for each shift so you know what to do from now on. No excuses.
