Late war?
« on: June 02, 2011, 12:08:05 AM »

Does anyone play late war? Some of my favourite battles occurred in this period (battle of the bulge!), and the new invasion of Italy expansion looks the goods.

Within the FOW community Late War is just as popular as Mid War with the number of tournaments around Australia about the same for each, and I am pretty sure that each of us Wild Dog FOW Players can field a late war army or two.

I think late war is popular because everyone gets to play with bigger guns/tanks and that also makes the armies cheaper to buy.  There will probably be an even bigger swing to Late with the release of the Cassino book this month.

In Flames of War the game changes a lot for each period.  Early war is big numbers of tanks in battles with little guns so there is lots of shooting and sometimes something even dies.  Mid war is lots of strategy and maneuvering with the odd big tank and Late War is everyone has big guns and whatever you shoot dies.

If you or anyone else wants a game at any time, you are more than welcome to borrow any of my armies either with or without me :)

I agree with Baron Von MunchEisenhorn.

Nazis players become sooky la las in late war as their Tigers aint so tough anymore.

But then they do get Konistigers, which has front armour that is impossible to penetrate, even with their own overpowered 88's.

There may be a chance the Italy expansion may be mid war as currently Italian lists appear in the 'Africa' (mid war book), which covers Africa / Tunisia / Italy.

And yes Im happy for club members to use my British Bulldogs.

When tempted to fight fire with fire, remember that the CFA usually uses water.
